Are Bloggers Introverts or Extroverts?
I am a naturally shy person, who would rather write than speak in most cases. When westbankpapa and I were first going out, and we reached that delicate stage in the relationship where you either open up or say goodbye, I resorted to writing him a letter with some personal stuff in it rather than speak to him. Being the sensitive guy he is, he didn't think that was wierd, and as a matter of fact we started to talk seriously about marriage very soon after this.
So interviewing is one of my least favorite activities in the world. I know that once I sit down in the office, and see that the person who may be my boss is not seven feet tall with huge fangs, I will relax and talk to him like a normal human being. Until that time I will be tense, though.
This led me to think about the differences between bloggers. I assumed when starting my blog, that since it is mostly a written medium (except for podcasts, of course), that most of the other bloggers out there would be introverts like me. I am beginning to think I was way off base. (Feel free to correct me - I am very curious about this point).
So what are you, my fellow bloggers, introverts or extroverts?

Introvert, definitely. Terrified of people. But I'm noticing that most other bloggers seem not to be...
I'm pretty sociable. But I express myself much better by writing than by speaking. Anyway, I'm sure that most of us are nervous before interviews. Good luck!
definitely an introvert.
I've met bloggers who fall into both categories. Some are way too extroverted, downright ugly if they get their feathers ruffled. I stay away from those people.
I've met a few... :)
GodolHador once had people take a personality test online then report back. I think every single one was an introvert except me.
Of the ones I've met and spoken to, most are probably on that line between the two (kind of like me). There were almost no extroverts (Jameel is the only one that comes to mind) and a number of introverts.
Unsurprisingly, the opynomous ones are more extroverted than the anonymous ones. :)
In real life I am an extrovert, but I keep very personal things very private. I mean that I am outgoing, but few people know the real me. Even on my blog I try to be as real as possible, but I am forced to edit myself there as well.
I am an introvert, definitely. I like my husband, my books and my computer. We are a lot alike, westbankmama- I write when I need to really express myself and I hate going on interviews. That's why I work for myself!
I am a little bit of both.
Definitely an extrovert--love to meet new people, talk about everything--if it turns out the new person doesn't necessarily agree with me, I either move on or find some common ground (kids, cooking, medieval history, etc.) that we CAN talk about. I'm still best of friends with a woman I met years ago, and we had a major disagreement about ONE thing. We agreed to simply not talk about it and we've been buddies since then.
I would say on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being extreme introversion and 10 being extreme extroversion, I would be a 3 or maybe a 4.
Happy Chanukah, Westbankmama.
Gail
Ezzie- you called Jameel an extrovert?!
I think I'm an introvert. Most people who know me would say the opposite.
Happy Latkes, WBM
So it seems rather even then. Hmmm.....
I still vote for most bloggers being introverts. Witness how many of them (us) are cat lovers, and there was a lot of blah blah how cat lovers are introverts.
Oh, gee. Hag Sameach, I have almost forgot.
Snoopy,
I hate cats. Feh.
WBM - Some of the introverts don't comment. :P
TafkaPP - Well, on the phone he is...!
More introvert than extrovert.
I'm an introvert. I never approach strangers.
I'm a little of both.
Depends on the setting and situation.
i'm a shy extrovert.
or maybe i'm an outgoing introvert.
i cannot stand cats.
i have no idea where i fit into this.
Jack, I have something important to tell you. I have just read on another blog:
“People that hate cats, will come back as mice in their next life.”
Take heed!
snoopy - I hate to tell you this, but I hate cats also. Dogs are much more down-to-earth and cuddly. Cats are sometimes nice to look at, but they don't warm up to you.
For those of you who say you are "both" - I think all of us can be both depending on the situation and our mood, but in general we fall into one category or another. I will never be the first to approach someone, but if they say hello first I am ok.
