During a roughly 24 hour period we received 241 emails altogether. Some were from email lists that we signed up for (and I am regretting), a few were from people on my yishuv, and one or two were from friends. I would say that about 225 of them were complete garbage (how many ways can you describe the wonders of Viagra?)
Is this number normal, high or low?

*LOL* NO, that is not NORMAL, that is FRIGHTENING!! I got arount five monthly, that is normal for me.
And I like your blog, a good mixture!
Sholom!
Without a spam blocker, that's low--my spam blocker on my other email address catches about 500-1000 per week, in spurts per day that vary.
IF you have a spam blocker, you need a better one.
I agree, get thee to some filtering of thy spam! WAY to much!
I get more than that, but I wish that I didn't.
Yes, I would say that's about normal. If you can call this normal, of course. But you need a good spam blocker, indeed.
Both Gmail and Yahoo are pretty good at that without any additional software.
Even with a spam blocker I found about 10 unwanted messages among 40 messages when I opened my computer after the 25 hour Shabbat break. I dread to think how many my server has blocked! Shavoua tov.
I get it more so at my work email address, but yeah, to come into work everyday to discover 275 spam messages interspersed amongst 15 legit emails can be a little unnerving (and time-consuming).
As a pure soul, it unnerves me to have to be subjected to the myriad means one has of contorting their gender-specific parts.
Thanks for the responses - we don't have a spam blocker...yet...
