Grandma's Remedies to the Rescue

January is a big month for the flu here in Israel, even if the weather is relatively mild. I know of a lot of people who have been sick, and the hospitals are full.

The other day I started to feel very tired, my nose started to run, and I had that tell-tale slight ache in my muscles that signals that I am coming down with something.

I said to myself that there was no way I could call in sick to work - after all I have only been there for one week! So I took "emergency measures".

I didn't care what was happening in the house, I took a warm shower and got into comfortable clothes. I then did what my husband's grandmother (may she rest in peace) used to tell us to do. First I ate a grapefruit (Vitamin C in its most natural form) and then I ate a raw clove of garlic (antibiotic properties). The garlic was hard to get down, but from experience in the past it really works.

I then made myself a cup of tea, and got into bed with some light reading. I told myself that I would rest, and my body would use its strength to heal itself, and even if I still felt badly the next morning, sitting in an office in front of a computer would be a piece of cake compared to what I used to do. I remember being a mother of two toddlers (two very active toddlers, who obviously thought that Evil Knieval was a great role model) and being sick - but there are no sick days for mommies! When I was very ill my husband would take a day off from work to take care of them, but there were always times when I was under the weather and he couldn't take time off.

Thankfully I felt ok the next morning, and by the afternoon I was back to my normal self. Garlic (and grandma) to the rescue!

My mother-in-law, and all her homeopathic natural stuff makes a concoction of Garlic, Ginger, Honey and lemon with hot water........not the greatest taste, but it also helps to move the cold along!! Glad you're feeling better......

bec - yes, they have the flu shot here, but I think it is only for older people and those with chronic illnesses

trnspr - thanks!

rafi - yes, my husband says that even if the job is going well it is still a source of stress

mother of israel - I think that you have to know your body really well, and take good care of yourself at the first sign of sickness. If you let something take hold, this remedy won't work.

jack - it doesn't surprise me that you would miss Evil Knieval. You'd probably enjoy teaching my kids some tricks they never heard of...

aliyah06 - garlic is great for your heart also

emah - I also like candied ginger

Sounds worth a try! Where were you last week when I was feeling like a wrung-out smartut??? I could have used that rememdy then!

BTW, I think anyone can get a flu shot. Every year I intend to, but by the time I remember it's always too late. Maybe next year!

regina - I am surprised that more people don't know about garlic!

rr - I am skeptical that the shots really work. After all, they are based on LAST years bug. Who is to say that it is effective on the new strains?

My guess is whoever gets these scholarship places are most likely not likely to be known names at the Fortnite neighborhood, as those people are making that flowing money, mmogo fortnite items shop and the majority of them are far older than 17-18, not exactly going to begin college. Therefore, it may be you, I suppose, a better-than-most Fortnite player who'd prefer some money to go to college in Ohio.

I'll post more about open tryouts when that info is accessible, but start your training today, as this definitely will not be the last Fortnite scholarship we see in this nation.Fortnite continues to add and subtract weapons in the game, buy fortnite weapon and this time, some coveted new firearms are probably being inserted, according to a current leak.
